Money Isn't Leaving You. It's Looking for You.
Sep 21, 2026
Can you really change the way money feels before your next shift?
Yes. You can shift your money story before your next front desk shift... no matter what you grew up believing about money.
Because talking to patients about money at the chiropractic front desk was never really about the number. It's about what YOU believe about money in the seconds before you say it. And that part? You get to choose it, fresh, every single day.
Money isn't leaving you. It's looking for you.
Stay with me, because this is the shift that changes every money conversation you'll ever have.
First, the money story most of us never chose
Most of us grew up around a few quiet beliefs about money. That money is hard. That we're always the one paying it out, never the one receiving it. That there's only ever so much to go around.
Nobody sat us down and taught us that on purpose. We just absorbed it. And a story you never chose can still run the show years later... at the dinner table, in your own bank account, and yes, at the front desk.
Good news? A story you didn't choose is a story you get to rewrite. Starting with your very next shift.
So sit with this for a second... what did you actually learn about money growing up? And is that belief even YOURS, or one you just inherited?
If money makes you a little nervous... this part's for you
Talking about money can feel uncomfortable, right?
If you get a little nervous, if you soften the number or rush to fill the silence right after you say it, you are not bad at collecting. You may have just picked up a money story that was never yours.
And listen, for years, that was me. I thought softening the money conversation was me being kind. I'd apologize for the cost. I'd fill the silence the second after I said the number. I called it respect.
It wasn't respect. It was my own money story leaking out onto the person in front of me. The nerves were mine. Not the patient's.
Once I saw that, I could set it down. And so can you.
If you're already a rock star with money... this part's for you
Maybe money doesn't rattle you at all. You say the number, you hold the space, you lead patients to care like it's second nature. I LOVE that for you.
Affirmations aren't here to fix something that isn't broken. For you, they're fuel.
An affirmation is just you, telling yourself the truth on purpose. Calling it in. Staying open to receiving, so even MORE money can flow your way. The most confident chiropractic assistants I know still prime themselves before the day starts. Comfortable isn't the finish line... there's always another level of open.
The shift... money is on its way to you
Here's what to sit with today.
Money isn't leaving you. It's circulating toward you. It's replenishable. It's actually kind of fun. And there is a whole family out there, right now, happily ready to pay for the care they've been needing.
So before your first patient walks in this week, try what I do. Out loud. Yes, out loud, even if you feel a little silly in your car:
"Someone out there is happily ready to pay me today. A whole family is ready to get the care they need. Money is looking for me. Money is finding me. Money is on its way to me."
That's not woo for the sake of woo. That's you getting your brain ready to RECEIVE... so you walk up to that desk open instead of braced.
If you're a D.C. reading this...
If collections feel a little soft in your office, it is almost never that your team doesn't care. It's the opposite. They care so much they've quietly decided that protecting the patient means protecting them from the number.
But softening the number isn't kindness. Apologizing for the cost isn't humility. And bracing before the ask? That was never protecting anyone.
Leading someone to the care they need, at the value it's actually worth? THAT is the kind thing. THAT is the respectful thing. THAT is leadership.
(one to sit with: what money story might be quietly running your front desk right now... and what has it cost in care your patients never started?)
Your team doesn't need a new script. They get to shift the story sitting underneath it. That part, we build together.
The shift to walk out with
You can shift your money story before your next shift.
It doesn't matter what you grew up believing. Money isn't leaving you. It's circulating toward you, it's replenishable, and it's already on its way to your desk.
When you stop treating money like it's hard and running out, you stop bracing. You stay warm. And you lead the patient right to the care that changes their life.
Remember... what you think about money, you bring about. 🎯
Priming your team to walk up to that desk open instead of braced, and leading money conversations from that place, is the whole heart of what we do inside The C3 Certification Program. Because the belief your team carries into the money conversation is the exact belief your patients feel.
And if this one landed, read its siblings next... what your team gets wrong about "selling" and what your real job actually is at that front desk.
Copy this blog's link and send it to the person on your team who could use a fresh money story before their next shift. Then ask them one honest question... what did we learn about money that was never even ours to carry?
Money is on its way to you. Go get ready to receive it. 🎯

Frequently asked questions about shifting your money story at the front desk
Can you really change your money mindset before a shift?
Yes. Your money story is a set of beliefs you picked up over time, and beliefs can be updated on purpose. Before your first patient, remind yourself out loud that money is on its way to you and that a whole family is genuinely ready to pay for the care they need. You're priming your brain to receive, so you show up open instead of braced.
What is a money affirmation, and does it actually help at the front desk?
An affirmation is simply telling yourself the truth on purpose... calling money in and staying open to receiving it. It helps whether money makes you nervous or you're already confident collecting. On a nervous day it settles you. On a confident day it invites even more. Try: "Money is looking for me. Money is on its way to me."
How do I talk to patients about money without feeling awkward?
Start before the conversation, not during it. Notice the money story you're carrying, then choose a new one: money isn't running out, it's circulating toward you. When you stop bracing, you stay steady and warm, and you lead the patient to the care they need instead of softening or apologizing your way through the number.
