Friday Focus #66: Busy Isn't the Same as Focused for Chiropractic Teams

Miranda Dancisin, chiropractic assistant coach sharing a Friday Focus on why busy is not the same as focused for chiropractic teams.

Busy Every Day and Still Behind on Your Goals? It Is Not Your Workload. It Is Your Focus.

Welcome to Friday Focus → a weekly series I started on Instagram back in 2023. Every Friday I drop ONE clear focus for chiropractic teams (TGIF... Today's Goal Is Focused). This is part 66, and I am bringing it to the blog so more teams around the world can use it. If you have been with me since Part 1 → welcome back. If this is your first one → let's grow. 🌱

If you are a D.C. reading this → drop this link in your team chat before your next team huddle. This is a team focus, not a solo one.

If you are a C.A. reading this → You are closer than you think to more free time. 🎯

Truth over comfort. You can be busy every single day for the next five months and still not hit the goal you set back in January. Busy is not the same as focused. The fastest way for a chiropractic team to hit its practice goals with a few months left in the year is not a brand new plan. It is to pull the goals back into view, read every one out loud, take real credit for how far you have already come, and reconnect to the FEELING you had the day you set them. When the feeling comes back, the focus comes back. And focused beats busy every time.

The Goal You Do Not Look At Cannot Pull You

Let me tell you what happens in so many offices around this time of year.

Back-to-school season hits. Everyone speeds up. More on the schedule. More noise. More to do before lunch than most people do all day.

And that is EXACTLY when a team starts pushing through the days and calling it progress.

Head down. Task after task. Inbox to inbox. Feeling productive because you never stopped moving.

But moving is not the same as moving TOWARD something.

You do not hit a year-end goal by working your to-do list → you hit it by remembering what that list was FOR.

That goal you wrote in January? If it is tucked in a drawer, saved in a folder you never open, or living only in the doctor's head... it cannot pull you. A target is something you HIT. So you have to actually LOOK at it.

The Real Reason Teams Drift From Their Goals

Let me get unfiltered for a moment.

Teams do not drift from their goals because they stopped caring. They drift because the goal stopped being FELT.

When you set that number in January, you felt something. Maybe it was excitement. Maybe it was a little fear. Maybe it was that quiet "we are actually going to do this" feeling in your chest.

Then February happened. Then a hundred Tuesdays happened. And somewhere in there, the goal turned into a number on a page instead of a feeling in your body.

What you talk about, you bring about. And what you STOP talking about? You quietly drift from.

Okay, let me tell you a quick story about this. I coach a community member named Adel. Every morning while she cleaned the office, she started saying one simple thing to herself → "New cash pay patients this week." Over and over. Day after day. In her own words: "A couple of weeks ago as I would clean the office in the mornings I would say to myself, new cash pay patients this week. I kept saying it over and over and guess what we got... just that!"

Do you see what I am doing there? That is not a cute affirmation story. That is proof that when you keep the goal in front of your face and in your mouth, your whole focus reorganizes around it. The number she wanted started showing up because she never let it leave her sight.

Today's Focus: Pull Your Goals Back Into View

Here is your Friday Focus. This takes about 10 minutes. Do it today, and do it as a team if you can.

🎯 1. Pull up your goals. Phone AND computer. Wherever your practice goals live, put them back where you can see them every single day.

🎯 2. Read the whole thing. Every goal, top to bottom. Out loud if you can. Not a skim... a real read.

🎯 3. Take the credit. Look at how far you have already come this year. Write down three wins you almost forgot about. You are further than you feel.

🎯 4. Get honest about what is still open. With five months left, what still needs to happen? No shame. Just clarity.

🎯 5. Feel what you felt the day you made it. Close your eyes for a second and get back the feeling from January. THAT is the fuel. Then get to work.

That is it. That is the focus. You do not need a new plan. You just need to LOOK.

A Reflection Question Before You Keep Scrolling

Pause right here.

When was the last time you actually LOOKED at your office goal, out loud, on purpose?

Not glanced at it. Not thought about it in the shower. Actually read it and felt it.

If you cannot remember... that is not a character flaw. That is just the signal. And awareness is where the shift starts.

For My D.C.s Reading This

Doc, I want to call you into something with love.

If the goal only lives in YOUR head, your team cannot chase it. They cannot hit a target they have never actually seen.

Your front desk is not there to answer phones. They are there to lead growth. But they can only lead toward a goal they know, feel, and own.

So this week, put the number in front of them. Say it out loud in the huddle. Tell them WHY it matters, not just what it is. Let them feel like it is theirs too. Because it is.

Lead like you love them → and give your team the target they get to hit together.

For My C.A.s Reading This

If you are a C.A. reading this → you do not need to wait for the doctor to bring up the goal.

Claim it.

You can be the one who pulls the goal back into view. The one who says in Monday's huddle, "We are at this number, we have this far to go, here is what I am focusing on this week." That is leadership. That is a C.A. who runs the office like an owner.

And when you lead that way, you feel it in your own confidence too. One of my C.A.s, Kelly, hit over $10K in a single day, and afterward she told me she did it by treating that day like December 31st. That is what happens when the goal is alive in front of you. More is already yours... you just have to keep it in your sight and claim it.

Busy Team vs Connected Team

❌ Busy teams spend the next five months just getting through the days. They stay in motion and wonder in December why the number never moved.

✅ Connected teams pull up their goals, feel it again, and finish the year on PURPOSE. Same hours. Same schedule. Completely different result.

If you want to go deeper on the difference between a team that is trained to do tasks and a team that is coached to lead toward a goal, I wrote about that here → the difference between training and coaching in chiropractic offices. And if your front desk still feels a little scattered, start by resetting your workspace first. A clear space makes a clear goal easier to chase.

Frequently Asked Questions

Why is my chiropractic team busy every day but still not hitting goals?
Because busy is not the same as focused. A team can stay in constant motion working the to-do list and never move toward the actual goal. Hitting the goal comes from keeping it in view, reconnecting to why it matters, and directing daily effort at it on purpose.

How do I refocus my chiropractic team on goals mid-year?
Pull the goals back into view on every screen, read them out loud as a team, take credit for the wins so far, get honest about what is still open, and reconnect to the feeling you had when you set them. You do not need a new plan, you need to LOOK.

Should the chiropractic assistant know the practice goals?
Yes. If the goal only lives in the doctor's head, the team cannot lead toward it. When the C.A. knows, feels, and owns the goal, the front desk starts leading growth instead of just processing tasks.

Does a goal board actually help a chiropractic practice grow?
A visible goal keeps your focus organized around it. What you keep in front of your face and talk about daily is what your attention reorganizes around. That is why the offices that keep goals visible tend to stay far more intentional than the ones who filed them away in January.

The Big Takeaway

You are not behind. You are getting clear.

Five months is a lot of runway when your team is focused instead of just busy. The goal did not go anywhere. You just stopped looking at it. So look.

Pull it up. Read it. Feel it. Chase it together. Finish the year on PURPOSE.

Success loves action. And success loves YOU.

Let's grow. 🌱
